Support Center Counselor
Campus Life
The Academic Support Center seeks applicants for a full-time counselor
position. The counselor serves a variety of students, including
students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder,
international students, and students with general academic concerns.
The counselor will provide individual academic support, assist
students seeking accommodations or screening for learning disabilities,
conduct occasional workshops and programs, and provide outreach
and consultation to the university community. The counselor reports
to the director of the Academic Support Center in the Office of
Campus Life, and collaborates with other ASC counselors, as well
as with the Counseling Center, academic advisors, and university
staff and faculty. Masters degree in education, counseling,
student development, or related field. Three years postsecondary
experience in learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder,
and academic assistance. Strong counseling and communication skills.
Projects Coordinator

American University is seeking a projects coordinator in the Office
of the President. Reporting to the presidents chief of staff,
this position is responsible for providing leadership on several
university-wide initiatives, coordinating projects, providing
staff support for committees, resolving a variety of issues requiring
attention from the presidents office, and assisting the
chief of staff with various activities and writing assignments.
The successful candidate will have very strong organizational
skills, analytical ability, excellent written and oral communication
skills, good judgment and a calm, professional demeanor. BA or
BS degree and minimum two years work experience required.
Director of Career Services

Washington College of Law seeks a director for the Office of Career
Services to serve the career education, planning, and search needs
of its students. Principal duties include informing students regarding
the structure of the legal profession; assisting students in making
interim and long-term career decisions; instructing students on
search methodologies; arranging informational presentations in
particular career areas by experienced attorneys; strengthening
an outreach program to legal employers that enhances student access
to summer and academic year maintaining a multi-media career resources
library; administrating fall and spring on-campus recruiting programs.
The successful candidate will have significant legal career services
experience in an academic or law practice environment, managerial
experience, and a commitment to helping law students develop the
insight, skills, and experience. Masters or law degree preferred.
Desirable qualifications include a law degree from an American
Bar Association accredited law school, law practice experience,

and the nation.
Assistant Director Financial Aid I

Assists the associate directors with administrative support and
policy and procedure development in the delivery of financial
aid to students. Also responsible for advising and counseling
students and colleagues regarding federal, state, and institutional
financial assistance programs. Determines student eligibility,
performs verification, and authorizes financial aid packages.
Administers all aspects of the federal Pell and State Grant programs.
Participates in outreach and informational financial aid programs,
attends public relations events and financial aid workshops related
to recruitment and retention of students. Works on financial aid
committees. BA or BS required, MA preferred; three years experience
in financial aid administration required. Proficiency with computers;
familiarity with accounts and budgeting; excellent verbal and
written communication skills required.
Director, Washington Semester Program Internships

Directs and oversees the Washington Semester Program internships
and is responsible for securing internships for all Washington-based
programs within WSWCP, including the ongoing (traditional semester
and summer) programs; WINS and its stipend internships; the Future
Global Leaders (Cyprus) Program; the Global Degree Program; the
forthcoming Information Technology Program; and other proposed
programs, such as the proposed Summer Institutes. The director
will serve as the primary contact with potential internship sites
and will be responsible for promoting the Washington Semester
Program to new and diverse sites, for developing new internships,
and for maintaining existing sites. Requires background in experiential
education and human resources. Must possess superior interpersonal
skills, require minimal supervision, and be prepared to work both
away from the office throughout the Washington area to secure
internships, and in the office preparing, maintaining, and publicizing
the internship database and making internship opportunities available
to students. Masters degree in relevant field preferred
with at least three years experience working in higher education,
preferably with human resources or public relations background.
Must have at least one to two years supervisory experience. Must
have familiarity with the Washington area job and internship market,
and college students. Must possess excellent oral and written
communications skills and superior interpersonal skills as well
as significant experience working with personal computers, with
Microsoft Word, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint experience.
Director, Washington Semester American Indian Program
#4410, WSWCP
Director for Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS),
a program designed to provide experiential education to American
Indian students from tribal colleges and other colleges and universities.
The director will serve as the primary contact with students,
director of the academic programs and internship aspects of the
academic experience, and primary contact for all other administrative
aspects of the program. Will also work with faculty on curriculum
and academic course development, with the program advisory council
on policy and interaction with the American Indian community,
and with the Washington Semester Program internship director to
ensure that appropriate paid internship placements are secured
in sufficient numbers to serve all admitted program students.
Must have a background in the provision of college or university
education, initiative, and knowledge of and experience with higher
education and American Indian issues and policies. Must be a person
who needs minimal supervision. MA is required for the position,
PhD is preferred. Significant experience working with American
Indians and with higher education is required, including student
recruitment and retention, academic planning, work with experiential
education, and experience with teaching and administration in
the college environment.
Administrative Assistant

Responsible for clerical and general administrative support for
WINS, the Washington Semester Program internship director, and
the associate dean. Will send out routine mailings, e-mails, and
faxes; maintain student applications, internship, and academic
files; track communications; and help maintain routine databases.
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree
preferred. Must have at least one year of administrative support
experience. Must possess excellent oral and written communication
skills and strong interpersonal skills as well as experience working
with personal computers, and with Microsoft Word, spreadsheet,
and PowerPoint.
Senior Budget Officer

Reports to assistant director of budget. Manages university-wide
budget data and provides guidance and training to the budget office
staff and unit budget managers. Also responsible for conducting
independent research and analysis in support of the university
budget planning process. Advanced degree in business or related
field preferred. Four to six years experience in budgeting, financial
management, or cost accounting required, preferably in higher
education. Excellent PC database management and graphic presentation
skills required. Must have good written and interpersonal skills.
Technical Director

Coordinates all technological and logistical aspects of productions
in the performing arts season. Supervises all activities in the
Butler Instructional Center. Teaches and trains students in the
areas of stage carpentry, stage electronics, painting, props,
stage management, sound reinforcement, as well as safety in all
categories. Bachelor of fine arts in technical theatre, advanced
knowledge of all areas of theatrical design, special event production,
stage technology, and safety training. Must have at least two
years of professional experience. Must be able to perform strenuous
physical work such as climbing, working with heavy electrical
equipment, and carpentry.
Financial Aid Counselor

Responsible for advising and counseling students, parents, and
colleagues regarding federal, state, and institutional financial
assistance programs. Provide financial advice and counseling to
both prospective and enrolled students, parents, and AU administrators
regarding the application process, bill payment, budgeting, and
financial planning each semester. Must explain federal-institutional
regulations, and interpret and apply federal-institutional regulations
while reviewing federal income tax returns and other required
verification materials. BA or BS preferred with at least one year
experience in financial aid counseling in a large volume, multiprogram
environment. Must possess an understanding of financial assistance
programs as they relate to recruitment and retention of students.
