Author reads from “sweetly touching” novel

Author Lisa Zeidner came to AU for a fiction reading sponsored by the MFA Program in Creative Writing, reading excerpts from her acclaimed novel Layover. The Washington Post has described the 1999 novel about a traveling saleswoman who cons her way into free hotel rooms as “zesty, funny and sweetly touching,” while The Chicago Tribune says it has “has a terrific, unforced edginess and power . . . [with] moments when [Zeidner] simply rips out your heart and hands it to you.” The Washington-born Zeidner is the author of four novels and two books of poems. She teaches at Rutgers University, where she directs the graduate program in English.
