| WAMU partners with Traffic.com to offer improved traffic reports WAMU 88.5 FM has partnered with Traffic.com to make listeners’ commutes a little less stressful. The service uses a state-of-the-art network of road sensors, fire and police radios, mobile vehicle road reporters, airborne traffic monitors, and more than 300 cameras across the D.C. area to provide up-to-the minute reports on area traffic problems. The reports, which kicked off March 1, even identify speeds along area roadways. In addition to supplying the on-air content during the morning and afternoon drive times, Traffic.com also allows WAMU listeners to create customized traffic reports, delivered to their cell phones, computers, or portable devices before they head home for the day. Map and incident reports are also available at www.wamu.org. “WAMU always strives to bring our listeners the most accurate and useful information,” said general manager Caryn Mathes. “This will benefit our listeners by minimizing their traffic woes and supplementing the station’s on-air traffic product using this new technology.” Fiscal Year 2006 Cutoff Dates To facilitate the fiscal year-end closing for Apr. 30, 2006, all purchase requisitions must be input online or submitted to the Purchasing Office on or before Apr. 14, 2006.
