The American University Symphony Orchestra presented “Two Firsts by Beethoven and Bruch” on Friday during a performance at the Katzen’s Abramson Recital Hall.

Selections included Beethoven’s “Consecration of the House Overture” and Symphony no. 1, as well as Bruch’s Violin Concerto no. 1 featuring soloist Michelle Crosby, winner of the 2005 American University Concerto and Aria Competition. Professor Jesus Manuel Berard, director of orchestral activities at AU, conducted the performance. —MU
