Just call her the piano girl. Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, tickled the ivories to the delight of students gathered in the Tavern last week. The Student Union Board hosted the 20-year-old New York University student, who sang and was backed by a three-man band. And while Joel’s proud parents have attended several of her performances, they didn’t turn out for her D.C. debut. Dad, it seems, was in more of a New York State of Mind. —AF
