Dustin Emrani becomes an All-American

Dustin Emrani ended his collegiate track career in spectacular fashion last month when he finished 12th in the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif., to secure All-American status.

The Great Neck, N.Y., native is only the 11th track All-American in AU history. He ended his sparkling career with a dozen Patriot League titles, one individual school record, and three school records on relays.

As a sophomore, Emrani became the top 800 meter runner in the Patriot League. He lowered his best to 1:50, won both the Patriot League indoor and outdoor 800 meters, and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. As a junior, he set the school record in the 800 with a 1:49.67, and this season he won the 800 indoor title and anchored AU’s victorious 4 x 800m relay team. Outdoors, Emrani was undefeated in all but his last 800 meters race. He became the second Eagle in school history to win an NCAA East Region title. At regionals, Emrani shattered his own school record and proved himself to be the upper echelon of 800m runners in the country with his 1:48.06 time. —MU
