Commencement slated for May 13
Sunday, May 13, will be an extra special Mother’s Day for thousands of AU families, as their graduates cross the stage at Bender Arena to receive their diplomas.
The day starts at 9 a.m. with the SIS and SOC ceremony, which will be followed by the SIS reception at the amphitheater (rain site is the Tavern), and the SOC reception at the University Club.
The CAS ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., followed by a reception in the Katzen Arts Center rotunda.
The final ceremony of the day, for SPA and Kogod graduates, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Afterwards, SPA grads are invited to a reception at the University Club, while the Kogod reception will be held at the amphitheater (rain site is the Tavern).
The WCL commencement ceremony will take place at 1 p.m., Sunday, May 20, in Bender Arena. A reception will follow on the quad.

William H. Karchmer Awards Ceremony and Celebration

The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project hosts this eighth annual celebration for the public school students who have participated in the constitutional law and juvenile justice classes taught by WCL students during the academic year. The celebration features essays, T-shirt design, and art competitions for the high school students; presentation of the annual Mary Beth Tinker Award to an individual who has stood up for the rights of students in the past year; and a guest appearance by Mrs. Thurgood Marshall, widow of the late Supreme Court justice. Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition

8 p.m., Greenberg Theatre. Commissioned by VSA Arts, the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange performs an original work inspired by Shakespeare’s sonnets. The production features company and guest dancers with and without disabilities. Shakespeare revealed intense, intimate and moving relationships through his sonnets.
