Kogod students provide free tax assistance
Most everyone dreads Apr. 15. However, 26 students from the Kogod School of Business helped make tax day a little more manageable for Washington residents, volunteering their services through Community Tax Aid, a nonprofit that provides free income tax assistance to low-income residents.
The students were trained in Tax Wise software at the beginning of the spring semester, and provided free assistance to taxpayers at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in downtown D.C. for about two months.
The project was part of the Washington Initiative program, a service-learning course offered through Kogod.
