The Washington, D.C., chapter of the American Marketing Association held its first career fair at AU on March 26. More than 300 students from universities throughout the area attended the landmark event, which featured 27 employers.

“It’s a great way for the Kogod Business School to put itself on the map,” said Christie Shahan, Kogod’s assistant director of employer relations. “We’re going through a rebranding, and this was a really great opportunity to get the business community involved with us. If you’re looking for marketing students—or banking, finance, and accounting—this is a place to find them.”

Among the employers in attendance were big names such as National Public Radio, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Under Armour. Three Kogod students were on the committee that helped plan the event, which paid dividends for many who attended.

“I enjoyed the different employment sectors that were there,” said Matthew Curry, a Kogod MBA student. “Sporting equipment and a professional players union, PR firms, research firms, financial firms, journalism companies, entertainment companies were all represented. A really nice job was done of getting the varied fields together in one spot.” —MU
