Contemporary Israeli art at AU Museum

The physical, intellectual, and emotional landscape of today’s Israel is the theme of one of the current exhibits at the Katzen Arts Center. “We believe it is the largest, most varied, and most innovative exhibit of contemporary Israeli art ever mounted in Washington, D.C.,” says AU Museum director Jack Rasmussen. Among those drawn to the artists’ reception and gallery talk last week were, from left, AU President Neil Kerwin, donors Myrtle and Cyrus (second from right) Katzen, Israeli ambassador Sallai Meridor, and Russell Stone, director of AU’s Center for Israel Studies, which collaborated to curate the show with the AU Museum and Israeli museum director Dalia Levin. The exhibit runs through May 18 and celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel. —SA
