ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Teatime at SIS

After 40 years, the International Communication Program hasn’t just developed a national reputation. It also has its own traditions, such as a regular tea to bring together faculty members and students outside of class.
A tea party last week honored program founder Hamid Mowlana, at center, who was director of the program from 1968 to 2005. Mowlana, now professor emeritus, is a prolific author whose subjects have included Iraq, the Islamic media, civil society, and global communication.
The tea was organized by the International Communication Student Forum. Traditionally held once a semester, it’s a time for casual conversation among students in the School of International Service program and professors such as Mowlana and Nanette Levinson, right. —SA
